My dev updates for this week (Aug 10 - Aug 15)

Major work on Erebus, figured out most of SPP CLI and studied about some zk topics

Dev updates lately (Aug 10 - Aug 15)

Yo, dev updates for the last week! This wasn't a very productive one, with one day being sort of wasted due to food poisoning, but a decent week nonetheless. Studied more than I coded or wrote anything this week, in ZK, CS and Open source issues.

Work that I've done

Wrote about Erebus and what we are building on Twitter. This week marked the beginning of a STRK20 privacy sprint, which me and Ishita are taking part. So a lot of time was spent in planning, and coming up with a roadmap for the same. Honestly, I realized that I have kind of wasted the last few months trying to just vibecode and build stuffs which even I am not interested in, and thus, lessened my scope to working on this myself, and also making focused OSS contributions.

In Erebus, did a lot of work, including adding a ChangeOutput system which checks for any change in notes spent and post settlement of a transaction, sends back the change to the payer. Also, making it mainnet ready, added an allowance along with erc20 impl in the Rust SDK, which lets an operator issue a certain allowance for a dedicated pool.

Studied in details about SNARK proofs, shielded pools, multi asset vs single asset shielded pools. What a finite field is, how a function maps to a finite field in an arithmatic circuit, C(h,m) etc. How the prover and verifier works in a SNARK, different types of SNARKS, why preprocessing is required, how pre-processing works from S(C) to S(P) and S(V). Also studied and understood about Shielded pools, how ZCash does it, and how STRK20 operates. Along these lines, also went deep into Nethermind's article on Stellar Private Payments, and wrote a brief about SPP vs STRK20 to understand the design choices and decisions in both.

Submitted the SCF form for Sidereal, and had several discussions with Rahul about different projects and potential stuffs to work on. And finally watched Spiderman: Brand New Day, tried 2 new cafes, which were pretty cool. They were 8th day cafe and Blue Tokai, Park Street.

Conclusion

That's it for this week. I hope next week, I have some more work updates. It's mid August and ngl, this month feels a lot more productive than the last 3 or 4. But yeah, see you next week!
