Dev updates lately (July 4 - July 31)
Hey! Been such a long time since I wrote any of these updates. Was having a good flow back then around Feb-March after which life happened lol, and lost all the momentum. An internship ending, leaving a job, relocating back to home from rent, and graduation later, back with another dev update of maybe the last 1 month, hoping to keep writing these. I miss the EPF days when I used to write the weekly updates here and that somehow kept up the flow of work(or so I thought). But yeah, if you don't want to read about how my life has been for the last 4 months, you can skip to "Work that I've done" section.
Life lately
I was interning at Nethermind back in March which lasted till April. I was working on the preconfirmation sidecar, Catalyst, towards the permissionless fork, which got delayed because of Taiko's team's shift in their current plans. So I started studying about Pluto, and meanwhile at the end of the internship, I was also applying to other roles, but I unfortunately got rejected in all of them :D...
Yeah, around 40+ rejections in a month. That broke my spirits a bit, tbh, since I hadn't applied anywhere for a long time, perhaps for the entirety of my protocol/core CS studies started in Jan '25. So that was a bummer, and I started having self doubts and all. Then May came, and around 3 weeks of it went towards semester exams. After that, had to go for a followup, to my thyroidectomy, in Chennai.
And meanwhile all this was going on, we were also gradually shifting back to our own house after spending 3 years in an apartment as tenants, since our house was undergoing renovation. All this took the entirety of May and June, which eventually ended on 3rd July when we moved back. Meanwhile because of some issues, had to leave the company I was working with, so basically unemployment arc babyy!
But then took me some time to get accustomed to this new, yet not so new place and have been here for the last 1 week, with around 10+ more rejections.
Work that I've done
Have done the most amount of work in the last 1 month itself, as compared to the last 4, but me and a friend of mine, Rahul, were building Sidereal, a yield tokenization protocol, on Stellar, and secured the 2nd place in Stellar Buildstation Kolkata.
Recently me and Ishita also started to work on a private agentic communication/transaction infra product, since that is something I have been wanting to build for a long time. Just the Demo is ready as of now but let's see how it goes. Other than that, have been studying Data Structures and implementing them in Rust, also diving deep into Operating Systems.
In protocol work, I have been following Nethermind's Stellar Private Payments project, made some contributions there and have been looking into the cli work. Made a few contributions to the charon dvt's rust impl Pluto, and also in Grandine, implementing the state_builders Beacon API endpoint from the spec. Other than that, there isn't much to update honestly. did a few hackathons, mostly building across autonomous agent governance and agentic commerce.
But have been reading and keeping myself updated with the core Ethereum protocol work that has been going on, with Glamsterdam devnet-7 and Hegota EIPs being SFI'd and CFI'd.
Conclusion
That's it for now, will try to be regular and consistent with this every week, so have that consistency that I desperately need. And also enjoying the process along with it. The job market is pretty f'ed right now but let's see what happens with time. See ya!
